Albinder’s low-price online supermarket Grofers is owned by Grofers India Private Limited and is estimated to be worth 300 million USD after Series E round. He plans to delve deeper in markets by launching private labels, enhancing supply chain, and creating technology and infrastructure. Today, through his online grocer, he is providing services in 25 cities in India delivering more than 5000 products across different categories, from grocery to household care to pet care and non-vegetarian items.

Albinder Dhindsa (age 40) is from Patiala, Punjab. Although not a natural entrepreneur, Albinder drew impetus for his startup from the discussions that he would have with his ex-colleague from Cambridge Systematics and now co-founder – Saurabh Kumar. It was during one of their interactions where Grofers CEO spotted the gap that existed in the area of transactions between merchants and customers in the logistics and delivery space and decided to address the problem. Eventually, in December 2013, the duo started to build their idea. At that time, Albinder was working at Zomato and had no intention to leave his job.
