Before he became the Sole CEO and Chairman of the American healthcare company, Hammergren served it as President and co-CEO from 1999 till 2001. He had joined the company in its Pharmaceutical division in 1996. Prior to that, he went to Kendall Healthcare Products in 1991 and became instrumental in its acquisition by Tyco. The company came to be known as Tyco HealthCare in the latter years. Before that, he worked at Lyphomed for a brief period. He started his career with American Hospital Supply. When the company was sold to Baxter Health Care, he left his 10-year old job to move on.
He attended the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities to earn a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and Management. He did MBA from Xavier University.
