Salil Parekh is now the Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of Infosys, a public listed company that ranks second in the Indian IT space, and holds the 596th position in the world in terms of revenue for the year 2017.  His name was recommended by the Nomination and Remuneration Committee that ran a global search for two months to find the best choice for the Infosys CEO role. The committee was formed under the leadership of Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw, the Chairperson & Managaing Director of Biocon Ltd.

Back in 2014, Salil Satish Parekh was one of the frontrunners for the top position with the multinational corporation, but he lost out to Vishal Sikka then. Nevertheless, Salil is now helming the company that has a 200,000-large workforce spread across the globe. His net worth is estimated to be more than 10 million USD, which in Indian currency is around Rs 65 Crores

Well recognized for his contribution towards building Indian operations of Capgemini, Salil Parekh is armed with almost 30 years of experience and has global exposure to IT services industry. His stint with Capgemini lasted more than 25 years, before which he was employed as a Partner with Ernst & Young from August 1992 till May 2000. He has support from the top Infosys heads because of his business acumen, focus, ability to bring staff, promoters, and board members together and good understanding of a multicultural environment.

In the 1980s, Salil first completed his BTech in Aeronautical Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Bombay and then pursued his Masters in Computer Science & Mechanical Engineering from Cornell University, New York. He is 53 years of age.
